The Department of Mathematics and the Department of Physics constitute Faculty 8 of the University of Stuttgart. The Department consists of six institutes, 22 professors and numerous other academic and support staff members engaged in research and training.

Studying Mathematics
Mathematics is one of the oldest subjects of human inquiry and at the same time an indispensable tool in modern society. A degree in mathematics trains structured and logical thinking and problem-solving skills which are directly transferable to a wide range of professions. Graduates in Mathematics find employment as academics, analysts, bankers, consultants, engineers, statisticians and teachers, among other occupations. |

Studying in Stuttgart
Stuttgart is one of the largest cities in the southern part of Germany with a major political and administration center and a population of about 600,000 inhabitants. It is also home to a ballet company of international repute, several professional theaters, an opera house, many museums and numerous other cultural attractions.
